Challenge

BMW, a leading luxury car manufacturer, was introducing three new series into the US market.  Unilaterally, they were expanding their parts distribution network on the West Coast to service dealerships throughout Northern California, Southern Oregon and Western Nevada. They were currently servicing these markets through a single distribution center in Ontario, California. BMW partnered with the CB Richard Ellis Global Logistics Group to provide a solution.

Solution

Our team provided an optimal supply chain real estate solution by surveying 17 markets and providing a comprehensive real estate, transportation, labor and incentive analysis. Through our recommendations and direction, BMW chose a build-to-suit site in Stockton, California. Our team was able to negotiate unprecedented terms for a 250,000 square foot state the art distribution center that can be expanded for future growth.

Benefits

  • Six-Sigma execution process
  • Global resource coordination
  • Powerful market intelligence including regional company interviews & economic development research
  • 37.9% overall savings
