Challenge

CDW Computer imports more than 90% of its product through the LA ports and considered the West Coast area (Stockton, Reno, Las Vegas and Los Angeles) as the prime are for locating the distribution center. The highly improved facility would house clean rooms, computer repair, office and distribution space.

Solution

Upon intense market valuation and site visits, CBRE discovered a labor and transportation advantage in Las Vegas despite the heavy use of the LA ports for the imported project. CBRE then located a site within an outstanding labor “pocket” in Las Vegas which would house the to-be-constructed facility.  The process included a spirited negotiation of business terms by CBRE with the national developer to reduce the original proposal by 24% or $12 Million savings. CBRE continued to project manage the facility through design and construction to ensure a successful start up.

Benefits

  • Signature Six Sigma execution process
  • National resource coordination and market intelligence
  • 24% overall negotiated real estate savings
