Located on the southwest coast of British Columbia, Port Metro Vancouver is North America’s gateway to the world’s most dynamic economies. Port Metro Vancouver is Canada's largest port and the fourth largest tonnage port in North America. Offering 28 major marine cargo terminals, the Port provides a full range of facilities and services to the international shipping community. The Port’s deep-sea terminals offer virtually no draft restrictions, Super Post-Panamax capacity and among the most extensive on-dock rail facilities of any North American West Coast port. In 2007, the port handled 128 million tonnes of cargo. Bulk and breakbulk cargoes account for 83% of the port's annual tonnage. The Port offers four container terminals and handled 2.5 million TEUs in 2007. Port Metro Vancouver’s container handling capacity of 3.3 million TEUs will increase to 4.1 million TEUs by 2012. As homeport for the Vancouver-Alaska cruise, Port Metro Vancouver welcomes nearly one million revenue passengers each year at two cruise terminals. The Port also handled 458,000 automobiles in 2007, receiving 100% of all Asian imports destined for Canada. The Port is serviced by two Class I Railways, CN and Canadian Pacific.
